Independence Day around the Bay

It’s time to don your Red, White and Blue and get ready to celebrate! It’s Independence Day! Cut up the watermelon, throw some burgers on the grill and raise a glass to our nation’s freedom! No Fourth of July is complete without FIREWORKS, friends and fun!  Check out our listing of events taking place around the Mid-Peninsula. While not all offer pyrotechnical displays, they certainly all offer community, fun and patriotism at its finest!

Foster City: The city of Foster City and the Foster City Lions Club are once again hosting their annual Fourth of July Celebration at Leo J. Ryan Park. This all-day event will feature games, food, entertainment, family and dog parade and a grand fireworks display above the beautiful Foster City Lagoon. The event goes from 9 a.m. until about 10 p.m.

Half Moon Bay: Come for pancakes hosted by the Half Moon Bay Lions Club this Fourth of July. Fun begins at 8 a.m. at the City Hall Parking Lot. Continue on to watch the annual parade down Main Street, which begins at noon!

Menlo Park: Throw on you best red, white and blue and participate in the Menlo Park 4th of July People Parade on Chestnut Street beginning at 11:45 a.m. Kids are encouraged to decorate bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers. Come enjoy jump houses, giant slides, games, crafts, laser tag and more at the end of the parade at Burgess Park.

Mountain View: The Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View is hosting its 30th annual fireworks concert with the San Francisco Symphony. Watch fireworks dance across the sky while you listen to selections from John Williams' E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Pacifica: Fronteirland Park is the place to be this Fourth of July for those near Pacifica! Come for a day of games, crafts, music and more, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m.

Redwood City: Start your Fourth right with a refreshing 5K family fun run! The Parade Run takes place at 8:45 a.m. Strollers, walkers and runners invited to this Independence Day Kick-off! Complete the downtown run and then plan to take a few additional steps as  you stroll through the downtown street festival or down to Marshall Street, where the Fire Department will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Also in Redwood City is the 78th Annual 4th of July Parade, sponsored by the Peninsula Celebration Association. This holiday parade is the premiere parade in the area! That evening, take in a world-class fireworks show beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m.

San Mateo: Come swimming and listen to music and more at Martin Luther Kind Park and Pool on Monte Diablo Avenue and Fremont Street in San Mateo. Even take part in the cardboard boat race! Event begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m.
