In just a few weeks, one of San Carlos’ favorite community traditions will commence, and Dwell Realtors will be there, with its corporate sponsorship as well as its fourth annual beach volleyball tournament!

This year’s volleyball tournament will begin on May 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continue on Sunday, with championship games in the afternoon. Grab a partner and get ready to battle it out on the Dwell-crafted courts at Burton Park. We offer some exciting competition with two different skill-level brackets.  We will also have our beer garden for those who might not feel the need to spike the ball, but rather watch the fun! To sign up for the volleyball tournament, visit www.dwellvolleyball.com.

Hometown Days has been bringing together our quaint community for 39 years! This year’s theme is ‘San Carlos … Small Town, Large Community,” and truly illustrates the purpose of the event. The fun includes an annual parade down Laurel Street Saturday morning, where schools, clubs, bands and businesses come together to walk the blocks amid the people-lined streets.

The festivities continue at Burton Park with an array of more than 15 food booths, and a beer & wine garden.  Featuring beers from the delicious Devil’s Canyon Brewery and San Francisco’s Anchor Steam, as well as fine wine from the Van Ruiten Family Winery.

On the grassy field at Burton Park, there will be obstacle courses, Hamster Wheel Track, quad bungee jump, Mega Rock Walls, a giant slide and a zip line. The interior park portion will offer different businesses and clubs staff booths with giveaways and information packets, games and arts and crafts.

There are also two stages of live performances and music throughout the weekend.  The stages begin live performances on Friday night. For a complete listing of performances, visit http://www.sancarloshometowndays.com/live-entertainment/.

On Sunday, plan to register for Rotary Club of San Carlos 5K/ 10K fun run. This annual run begins at 8 a.m. and serves as a fundraiser for student scholarships other charitable causes. The run ends with a large Rotary-sponsored pancake breakfast at the park.

A Pet Parade will take place on Sunday with prizes in nearly every category. All ages are welcome! All animals of all types, shapes and sizes are welcome to participate. The pet parade will begin on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

While this hometown ritual is 39 years old this year, it continues to encompass the heart and pulse of the community, offering something for just about everyone! So, come on down and have a look around! You’ll see us at the volleyball courts!
