Blind Tasting opens its doors; Wine scene on Laurel offers big selection

Most of us have been to this location for a Sunday morning treat. We know the location well… it’s in the place of the old Donut Delight, but it isn’t serving up donuts these days.

A new hip spot has opened and it’s serving up some of San Carlos’ finest wine labels, beers and bites. Nestled in between the UPS Store and the barber shop, Blind Tasting at 749 Laurel Street is the second establishment on Laurel Street that has opened by the friendly Kurt Family, owners of Spasso, which has been a delicious and loyal mainstay on Laurel Street in downtown San Carlos.

Blind Tasting offers a nice, casual and inviting feel, with a great menu. With its outdoor seats for a few and a linear table setting with a bar and big screen television in the back, it’s not just its atmosphere that has people talking. A wall lined with amazing labels adds to its focus of providing amazing wines, beers and delectable French-inspired California cuisine.

Some menu favorites include the grilled octopus, spring rolls, lobster mac and cheese its tasty and unique array of flatbreads. But don’t underestimate the burgers, either. The Blind Tasting menu has a little something for everyone … and then some more!

We’ve hit up this spot a lot lately and each time, we see that it is packed with people eager to drink good beverages and eat delicious bites that have unique flavor. Its great atmosphere has us coming back for more!

Development in downtown San Carlos has brought in a host of new businesses, and with it, a popping wine scene. Blind Tasting joins TasteVin Wine Bar and Bistro at 890 Laurel Street, The Wine Project at 663 Laurel Street, Wine Bar Mozzarella & Cicchetti at 619 Laurel Street and Trattoria da Vittorio, a couple doors down at 617 Laurel Street. This is Trattoria da Vittorio’s second establishment – it’s first is located in San Francisco’s West Portal and offers southern Italian cuisine, amazing pizza, as well as delicious wines.  And of course, The Cask Wine Bar at 782 Laurel Street continues to provide amazing cheese, charcuterie and gourmet burgers while pouring some of the world’s finest wines.

As construction continues downtown, we are seeing signs of even more new hot spots. A gelato store will open near the new Sneakers a couple blocks from San Carlos Avenue on the west side of Laurel.  We are loving the new establishments that are making San Carlos’ downtown corridor even better!

With all the new establishments that are popping up, wouldn’t it be nice to live in walking distance from this great street? We’re happy to assist you in your search for a home nearby. Call us anytime!
