Redwood City serving up some musical fun this summer

Once the barbecues are turned off following a busy Memorial Day, we jump right into graduation season and then into summer. It all takes place in just two short weeks, but they are active and exciting ones. Once summer hits, there will be no reason to leave Redwood City, as they have a line up of entertainment that has something for every music and lover. 

Whether it’s a concert in a park, on a square, for the classical music lover or the 5-year-old who just wants to bounce around, there is a fierce line up of talent this summer. 

This year we are proud sponsors of Redwood City’s Music in the Park and the 10-week, Wednesday night music concert series at Stafford Park that begins on June 13. Show time is 6 p.m.

June 13: Jonny Vegas and the High Rollers (rock and soul)

June 20: Janel and the Heist (dance band)

June 27: The Klipptones (swing/ jazz)

July 4: *No concert at Stafford – head to the square for the parade*

July 11: The Gator Nation Band (Cajun, zydeco and New Orleans R&B)

July 18: Tortilla Soup (latin)

July 25: Kyle Rowland Blues Band (blues) 

Aug. 1: Rock the Heat (rock ‘n roll)

Aug. Sinister Dexter (funk/ soul)

Aug. 15: Pacific Soul (party band)

Aug. 22: Top Shelf (Motown and soul hits)

 

Beginning THIS FRIDAY, Redwood City will also feature another fabulous venue for great music throughout the summer on Friday nights from 6 – 8 p.m. at Courthouse Square.

June 1: The Peelers Band (top 40s cover)

June 8: Metal Shop (80s rock)

June 15: Mustache Harbor (yacht rock)

June 22: Steel ‘n’ Chicago (Chicago and Steely Dan tribute) 

June 29: Cisco Kid (war tribute)

July 6: Lost Dog Found (swinging soul music)

July 13: Native Elements (reggae)

July 20: Caravanserai (Santana Tribute) 

July 27: Tribute to Journey (Journey coverband)

Aug. 3: Foreverland (Michael Jackson tribute)

Aug. 10: ENTOURAGE (Party band, top 40)

Aug. 17: Whiskey Dawn (Country)

Aug. 24: Noon Velvet (new wave, modern rock hits)

Aug. 31: Pride and Joy (pop/ soul) 

 

A Classical Series, featuring instrumental and opera will also take place on three separate weekend at Courthouse Square this summer. Here’s what’s playing this summer:

June 23, 7 p.m.: Redwood Symphony

July 22, 6 p.m.: Opera San Jose

Sept. 9, 5 p.m.: Bay Shore Lyric Opera

 

Redwood Shores residents can rock out three Sundays this summer – June 24, July 22 and Aug. 19. This three-time event will take place from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Marlin Park, located with a beautiful backdrop of the lagoon. There will be a food tuck option available then too. Here’s the line-up:

June 24: Touch of Class (R&B)

June 22: Cocktail Monkeys (pop/R&B)

Aug. 19: The Rip-Tides (Beach Boys Party Band)

 

And don’t forget the kids: Kidchella 2018 sponsored by Redwood City will take place four weekend days this summer with four separate bands bringing kid-fun entertainment from 11 a.m. to 1p.m.

Andy Z will emcee the events that are sure to have kids everywhere loving the show!

And tucked in the midst of all the musical fun is the city’s famous Fourth of July Parade and Festival, which features a morning 5K community run, a huge parade and a festival with a classic car show, food and art booths and more live music!
